A go-bag is only useful if you can carry it and if you know what is inside.
**Documents**: copies of ID, insurance, and medical records in a waterproof pouch, plus a small amount of cash in local currency.
**Water and food**: three litres of water per person, water purification tablets, and energy-dense food you actually eat. Rotate stock every six months.
**Health**: a two-week supply of prescription medicine, a basic first-aid kit, glasses, and hygiene items.
**Tools**: power bank, torch, whistle, dust masks, multi-tool, and a printed contact list. Assume mobile networks will be saturated.
Store the bag near your exit, not in a storage room. Weigh it. If it is too heavy, remove what you would not carry for a kilometre.
